Crystal Akins

Creative Director, Conductor
Crystal graduated from Marylhurst University with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies. She is a music teacher and artist in residence in Oregon. She is multi-talented as a music teacher, artist in residence, lead conductor and the founder of the IOC.

Amy Vanacore

Accompanist

Amy Vanacore has more than 15 years of experience as a collaborative pianist and teacher. She has accompanied hundreds of singers and instrumentalists in a broad range of genres, including musical theater, rock, nueva canción, blues, and opera. She currently accompanies IOC’s Portland Intergenerational Women’s Choir and the Portland Peace Choir, and made her international debut in 2016 in Managua, Nicaragua, with Nicaraguan singer-songwriter Clara Grun and jazz saxophonist Reed Wallsmith of the Blue Cranes.

Amy holds a B.A. from Brown University, where she studied music theory, percussion, and psychology. She is fluent in Spanish and English and, in addition to performing, she enjoys teaching children and adults from diverse backgrounds at her piano studio in SE Portland. 

The IOC is a Non-Profit Organization.
